Homero Escandon, CSCP  


Homero has over 21 years experience in Logistics, Distribution, and Supply Chain roles across multiple industries. He is currently Director of Global Logistics for Biotix, Inc. – a world class manufacturer of laboratory consumables and liquid handling solutions. He has previously held the positions of Sr. Manager, Warehouse & Logistics; Manager, Logistics & Inventory; Logistics Manager; and Logistics Engineering Manager. His private sector work has been for companies such as Northrop Grumman, LISI Aerospace, and United Technologies Corporation. Homero spent 11 years active duty in the United States Marine Corps, including two deployments to Iraq in support of the Global War on Terrorism. During his time in the military, Homero held roles such as Distribution Operations Manager, Logistics Systems Manager, Recruiter, Supply Chief, Supply Supervisor, and Supply Clerk.


Homero holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and a Master of Business Administration.  His certifications include CSCP, CLTD, Project Management Professional (PMP), and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB).


Homero began teaching with APICS in August 2018.  He currently teaches, CSCP, CLTD, Back to Basics, Lean Enterprise Workshop, and Train the Trainer.  He joined the San Diego Chapter Board of Directors in October 2018.

Susan P Franks, CPIM-F CSCP-F CLTD

Sue Franks, CPIM, CSCP, APICS Master Instructor for CPIM, CSCP, and Instructor Training; APICS Associate Instructor for Lean Workshop, Principles of Operations Management, and the Global Sourcing Seminar.

Sue has over 25 years of management experience in Materials, Manufacturing, and Operations Management. She has an MBA in Production and Operations Management from San Diego State University; earned her CPIM in 1991 and CSCP in 2006.

She has experience in a variety of manufacturing environments from start-up to high volume, and has worked for companies such as Sherwood Medical, Medtronic, 3Com, and Hewlett Packard. She is currently owner and principal for HourGlass Consulting.

Sue has been an instructor for the San Diego Chapter since 2001, teaching all five of the CPIM Review Courses, a number of the modules for the Back to Basics series, and is on the staff for CSCP Review Courses and the Lean Enterprise series. She has served on the APICS Rewrite and Review Committees for Basics of Supply Chain Management, Detailed Scheduling and Planning, Master Planning of Resources, and Execution and Control of Operations.

She has served on the San Diego Chapter Board of Directors since 2004 as Vice President – CPIM Workshops; President; and Past President. She is currently serving as Vice President Education for the San Diego Chapter Board of Directors.

Sanford H Friedman, CPIM-F  CIRM


Sandy Friedman, CFPIM, CIRM, PMP, ITIL

Sanford (Sandy) Friedman, BS, MS, MBA, CFPIM, CIRM, PMP, ITIL, is the PMO Manager at CGI and an instructor in the Operations Resource Management Certificate Program at California State University San Marcos. Sandy has over twenty-five years of industry experience in management, project management, consulting, teaching, and systems development in aerospace and defense, biomedical, pharmaceutical, health care, as well as manufacturing, logistics and distribution industries.

Sandy is a frequent lecturer for APICS and PMI, has been a featured speaker at several conferences and symposia, and has taught at San Diego State University, UC San Diego, California State University, San Marcos, Fullerton, Dominguez Hills, and at USC. Sandy is a past president of APICS-Los Angeles, and recently served as Ambassador for the San Diego chapter. Sandy was also a Board member of the Los Angeles Aerospace and Defense Special Interest Group (LA-ADSIG), and is the recipient of the APICS Milt Cook Award for 2008. Sandy holds a BS from UCLA, an MS from the University of Iowa, an MBA from Boston University, and holds CFPIM, CIRM, PMP, and ITIL certifications. Sandy is also listed in various Marquis’ Who’s Who series.

Kimberly Kohler, CPIM CSCP  

Kim has over 15 years of experience in the supply chain field.  She has held positions in manufacturing, project management, production planning, and procurement.  She is currently working for Thermo Fisher Scientific in Carlsbad.  Kim has also been a tour guide in Spain, China, and Germany. 

Kim has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin in Eau Claire.  It wasn’t until recently that Kim found her passion for supply chain.  Kim received her CPIM certification in 2015 and CSCP in 2016.

Kim began teaching CPIM courses with APICS in 2016 and has recently joined the Board of Directors as Director of CPIM.  She enjoys sharing her knowledge and passion with others interested in supply chain and operations.  She looks forward to meeting you at an upcoming APICS event.

Scott G Martin, CSCP  

Lyon Technologies Inc

Scott is President of Lyon Technologies Inc. a leader in the design and manufacture of animal medical care equipment, manufacturing in California since 1915. Scott has over 20 years of experience in Aerospace, Medical and Industrial Electronics. Trained as a Mechanical Engineer in the Canadian Military he also holds a designation in Quality Assurance Management from the University of Manitoba, and Advanced Management from the University of Nevada Reno as well as additional technical course work at UCLA and Georgia Tech and is an APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional.

Scott has held the positions of Managing Director, Vice President & General Manager, Director of Operations, Operations Manager, and Program Manager for multinationals at both the branch and corporate level in Canada and the United States with long term assignments in Europe and Asia.
Scott is a past President of the Northern Sierra chapter of APICS, past vice president of APICS chapters in the US and Canada as well as a Senior Member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and American Society for Quality. He served as liaison for the Manitoba chapter of the Canadian Manufacturers Association and served on the Red River College curriculum advisory council for Industrial Electronics as well as an adjunct professor for the Colleges of Western Nevada and Truckee Meadows and currently sits on the School of Business – Global Supply Chain Management Advisory Board at Cal State San Marcos.


Jim McNeil, CSCP, CFPIM, CIRM has been in the Supply Chain Management field for his entire career with 20+ years in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry. He is currently the Senior Materials Manager with Organovo. Jim has taught APICS certification courses in the CPIM and CSCP programs and was an instructor in Operations Management in the MBA program at San Diego State University and at the University of California, San Diego.   He has presented numerous times at local and national APICS events including two International Conferences and is a past President of the San Diego APICS Chapter. He received his BS in Business Administration with an emphasis in Operations Management from SDSU.

Rohit C Parangath, CPIM CSCP  


Rohit Parangath is the Head of ERP Processes at MilliporeSigma (formerly EMD Millipore Inc.), a division of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. He joined the company in 2007 as a Production Planner and progressed through the ranks as Master Scheduler, Internal S&OP consultant, End-to-End Supply Chain Planning Consultant and Supply Chain Advancement Process Manager. Rohit has been involved in several mergers and acquisitions during his employ with MilliporeSigma. Other than his regular duties he also holds SAP Key User responsibilities for Production Planning, Business Warehouse, APO Supply Network Planning & Demand Planning, and SAP Information Steward.

Rohit grew up in Bangalore, a metropolitan city in southern India. He received his Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rashtreeya Vidyalaya College of Engineering (RVCE), Bangalore in 2003. He came to the United States in 2004 to pursue higher education. He completed a Masters degree in Manufacturing Engineering, focusing in Supply Chain Management, from Syracuse University, New York in 2006. It was during his program in Syracuse University that Rohit had his first encounter with APICS. As part of the students’ career development, the Supply Chain Management professors at Syracuse University encouraged students to join the local APICS Student Chapter and complete the first of the CPIM exams, Basics of Supply Chain Management.

Rohit received his CPIM certification in 2011, CSCP in 2012 and CLTD in 2016. He joined the APICS San Diego Chapter Board of Directors towards the end of 2012 as the VP of Administration.

APICS to him is a community of continual learning and Supply Chain innovation. His interest in joining APICS stemmed from trying to understand the intricacies of Supply Chain in diverse industries and contributing to the community.
