The APICS San Diego Chapter is continually pursuing relationships with other professional societies and organizations in the San Diego area to exchange ideas, cross-pollinate our educational offerings, and in general to strengthen and grow the APICS Body of Knowledge. The 21st Century calls for increasing collaboration, cooperation, and understanding. APICS San Diego has taken the lead in pursuing these relationships.

This will result in more choices for the APICS member: more seminars, dinner meetings, certification programs, and courses to choose from. It will also increase interest and participation by the other organizations, further strengthening APICS’ position in operations management, supply chain management, and integrated resource management among San Diego businesses.

SoCal Lean Network

The So Cal Lean Network or SCLN is the premier network of lean-minded professionals in Southern California. With more than 650 industry professionals representing over 200 companies, the SCLN is the "linking" network of individuals and organizations pursuing excellence in the manufacturing, health care and service sectors. Started by Gary Gilliam of Alaris Medical in San Diego in the late 1990s as the San Diego Lean Tour Group, the group has grown from a handful of companies pursuing lean and excellence to a broad network that ranges from northern Baja California to Bakersfield, California.

 

The purpose of the SCLN is to help organizations learn about lean and enterprise excellence through sharing of best practices. Most of the events sponsored by the SCLN are lean sharing events with the host company opening it's doors to share successes and lessons learned on their journey toward excellence. Competitors are not allowed so the environment of the learning events is very open and candid.

 

 

American Society for Quality (ASQ) San Diego Chapter

National Association of Purchasing Managers (NAPM, aka, ISM) – San Diego Chapter

Originally founded as the Purchasing Management Association of San Diego in 1931, NAPM-San Diego has served the purchasing and materials management professionals of San Diego County for over 77 years. The local association is a not-for-profit professional educational association, offering seminars, workshops, and meeting programs specifically geared for the ever-changing environment of the procurement, materials management, and planning professional. NAPM-San Diego is an Affiliate of the Institute for Supply Management™ (ISM) formerly known as National Association of Purchasing Management, a network of over 40,000 professionals in 180 affiliates nationwide. Through this network of professionals and affiliates, members of NAPM-San Diego can obtain the latest in professional development, literature and references, benchmarking studies (conducted by the Center for Advanced Purchasing Studies), and special interest groups.

 

Project Management Institute – San Diego Chapter

The San Diego Chapter of PMI was formed and chartered in 1986. Since then, we have been continuously known for our increasingly progressive and innovative programs. The Chapter’s primary mission is to enable members to achieve project management excellence by enhancing expertise through project management education and training, supporting professional credentials, and promoting association with project professionals. Our Mission is to serve the professional interests of chapter members by enhancing expertise through project management education, training, and PMI certification preparation; as well as, promoting association and networking within the project management community.
