Featured Supply Chain News

There are some changes we have made to the Professional Development Meeting (PDM) that will take place in 2017. We hope with these changes we will be able to better serve you with all your supply chain and operations management needs.

The changes are as follow:

  •         PDMs will now be held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month
  •         ALL APICS Members will receive a coupon code to attend one PDM of their choice for FREE per membership year. This is a one-time use code and will be sent to you based on the month you signed up as an APICS member or renewed your membership
  •         All APICS Members who attend any of the educational classes we offer (Back 2 Basics, CPIM, CSCP) will receive a coupon code to attend an additional PDM for FREE
  •         The cost structure will remain the same at $27 for Members and $37 for Non-members. However, we will be charging a late fee of $3 for meeting registrants signing up past the cut-off date (usually 2 days before the meeting).

 

All these changes will apply for our next PDM on February 8th, 2017.

CPIM Basics of Supply Chain Management (BSCM) at Southwest College in Otay Mesa

This is an introductory course for production and inventory management personnel and CPIM candidates . This course provides basic definitions and concepts for planning and controlling the flow of materials into, through, and out of an organization. Summary:

Responsible for management of all activities related to manufacturing and raw material planning, ERP, Finished Goods replenishment at 3PL and business oversight of CMO. This hands-on position will manage and perform the day-to-day, manufacturing planning and inventory functions including related ERP transactions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by an individual assigned to this job.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops presentation for and participates in quarterly S&OP meetings with Commercial and Finance to align short / long range plans between Commercial Forecast and Manufacturing Plan
  • Creates Manufacturing Plan to achieve key inventory targets, sales forecast and clinical demand requirements
  • Responsible for business oversight of CMO and ensure compliance to Supply Agreement including management of Quarterly Business Review meetings
  • Determines CMO demand plan and manages the transfer of raw materials and ERP transactions
  • Develops Raw Material Budget in support of the Manufacturing Plan that achieves inventory level targets and addresses supply risks
  • Performs weekly MRP updates to determine raw material purchase requirements and provide guidance to Procurement for order placement
  • Develops and maintains effective business relationships with critical material suppliers
  • Works cooperatively with R&D to direct material purchasing strategies for new product development projects
  • Responsible for timely ESI transactions to ensure inventory accuracy of raw materials and finished goods including inventory reconciliation of SCC, CMO, 3PL supporting period end close
  • Works closely with Manufacturing to determine appropriate stocking levels of raw materials supporting on-site manufacturing and CMO supply
  • Develops, implements and maintains processes and procedures in compliance with cGMP and SOX requirements

  • BA degree in Business or related field preferred.
  • At least 10+ years in the medical device or life science industry with experience in all functions related to materials management

 

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage across multiple sites, including CMOs 
  • Ability to communicate in an effective and concise manner
  • Demonstrated ability to create process documentation for internal and external resources
  • Ability to create complex planning models in Excel

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for day-to-day warehouse operations in a food manufacturing facility along with supporting the company’s pursuit of establishing a continuous improvement culture. It’s a hands-on manager position.

 

The warehouse includes both FTL & LTL freight and parcel shipments via FedEx, USPS and UPS, receiving, customer pick-up, safety and inventory control. The warehouse operates 1 shift, 5 days per week.

 

Responsibilities

  • Applies continuous improvement activities and initiatives such as 5S, visual management, and improving warehouse processes.

The Plant Engineer is a new role to Chuao Chocolatier and will spearhead the company’s
pursuit of operational excellence in maintenance and manufacturing. It’s an excellent

• Maintains day-to-day maintenance schedules.
• Establishes a high-level production & building maintenance program.
• Manages 3rd party maintenance and engineering contractors.
• Supports the development and execution of special project plans, procedures and
maintenance protocols for production equipment.
• Develops new equipment strategies and generates documentation and cost
analysis to support procurement of capital equipment.
• Generates equipment specifications, identifies equipment suppliers and supports
equipment build activities including design reviews and project timelines. Installs
and validates upgrades and new equipment, develops and conducts operator and
maintenance training.
• Works with operations peers to develop and implement new MFG processes.
• Maintains and upgrades equipment safety systems to assure safe and ergonomic
working environments.
Manufacturing
• Be the manufacturing floor “expert” with performance knowledge of all
components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies.
• Sustains existing production processes and troubleshooting.
• Create and maintain manufacturing technical process documentation including
Work Instructions, CAD drawings, and Equipment Specifications/PMs.
• Work closely with Management to monitor and improve manufacturing and
operational processes and policies.
• Use critical thinking in order to reduce manufacturing costs, determine labor
requirements, ensure on-time delivery of products, and provide technical support
as needed on the manufacturing floor
Continuous Improvement
• Identifies, initiates and facilitates continuous improvement activities and initiatives,
such as 5S, visual management, kaizens to champion organizational efficiencies.
• Provides strategic and concrete plans to eliminate waste and increase productivity.
• Heads the company's cost reduction and product improvement initiatives.
• Supports manufacturing in daily execution of achieving KPIs.

JOB SUMMARY:

A Customer Service department Supervisor provides exceptional order to invoice customer relations experience for assigned accounts. Works with customers to manage product availability and shipment consolidation in an effort to satisfy their requirements. Oversees Customer Service Representative team to achieve department goals and propose / implement continuous improvement initiatives. Position offers opportunities for internal career advancement.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates information flow, orders, and shipments to meet shipping goals of the customer(s) and division(s).
  • Produces and distributes order management reports to customers to optimize consolidation of truckload shipments.
  • Processes shipments for international customers in accordance with US and EMEA export regulations.
  • Supports and interacts with sales and marketing, buyers and planners, distribution centers, credit, and traffic to facilitate order requirements.
  • Performs customer credits, debits, warranties, change pricing and internal audits.
  • Maintains knowledge of Toro products by company-provided training.
  • Maintains best in class responsiveness to correspondence with internal and external customers.
  • Identifies and communicates any issues which would delay or impede prompt shipment of orders.
  • Documents and updates departmental procedures as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities - Supervision

  • Performs monthly order processing compliance audit report.
  • Performs annual CSR team member performance evaluations.
  • Validates weekly CSR payroll time cards & manages overtime expenditure.
  • Manages team members vacation and holiday schedule.
  • Coordinates documentation and logistics for import / export shipments.
  • Supports monthly export documentation compliance audits.
  • Coordinates / monitors pricing programs expiration dates in SAP.
  • Monitors Pricing Deviation approval process completeness / follow up on delays.
  • Maintains Customer account database and monitors credit line status.
  • Develops and maintains departmental standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinates product training events for CSR team.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with Toro Ag sales team field representatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications or related subject required.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 - 7 years related customer service experience in B2B organization required.  

 

SKILLS:

  • Experience with order related systems; SAP and product knowledge and configurations desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Bi-lingual English/Spanish required.
  • Ability to organize, assemble, and arrange resources to meet goals.
  • Skilled data entry and system navigation skills.
  • Ability to maintain composure during stressful situations, remaining focused on the ultimate objective.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to support interaction and development of relationships with a wide-range of internal and external customers.
  • Capacity to work independently as well as within a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
  • Proficent in Microsoft Office programs.

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Typical office environment as it pertains to lighting, temperature, and noise level when in administrative/operations offices. May be exposed to noisy production floor that is not climate controlled. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and phone system and other computer components.

 

TRAVEL:

0 to 10% travel (domestic and/or international) may be required.
